Teatro Vivo Mission Statement: Inspired by the power of theatre to educate and entertain, Teatro Vivo produces and promotes bilingual theatre that provides a window into the Latinx community, and makes theatre accessible to all audiences, especially those underserved in the arts.
In 2013, I was asked by Rupert and JoAnn Reyes to serve as a dramaturg on a new play for young audiences in the Austin Latino New Play Festival, presented by Teatro Vivo. Since then, I have been fortunate to serve as a director for multiple plays in this annual festival, as well as a submission reader in the selection process. In 2016, I was formally invited to join the Board of Directors. It was an honor to serve Teatro Vivo and the local community in this way, and carry forward the legacy that Rupert and JoAnn founded. I served on the Board from 2016-2020, and as Chair of the Board of Directors from 2018-2020. I look forward to supporting the 21st year of Teatro Vivo in Austin.
