This piece was one of my first digital stories ever made, when I was 24 years old. The content remains relevant today. In it I explore settler-colonialism, Redface perpetuated by a white cishet Broadway performer, and our proceeding dialogue, as well as indigenous appropriation and erasure. The Color of Me

This was the first digital story I ever made, at 23 years of age. In it I explore colorism, sexual violence, settler-colonialism, xenophobia, and exoticization. As an educator, I always use this story as an example of how far I have come in my digital storytelling skills, but also to humble myself as a lifelong learner. Click on the image to view the story.

Digital Storytelling and Indigenous Language Revitalization

I am currently working on multiple projects to serve language revitalization efforts for two languages I am learning: Coahuiltecan, and Nahuatl. While the latter is spoken by millions of people across Turtle Island, the dominant languages continue to be colonial languages — English and Spanish. Coahuiltecan, the first language of my people, is considered “extinct” because there are less than 1,000 speakers remaining. I am working with my communities to build digital stories as language-learning tools, and digital and oral story archives, and to build language fluency amongst our people.
